About us

Glowbl was founded in Lyon based on a simple conviction: distance shouldn't erase the warmth of being together in person. Since 2011, we have been building digital spaces where communities truly come together, learn, and collaborate.

By the way, why Glowbl?

Glowbl is short for Glowing Bubble: the glowing bubble. A name that speaks to what Glowbl bubbles are: present, alive.

Our story

2011-2014

Sharing emotions from a distance

It all began with Mathieu, a student looking for a way to connect with friends scattered across the globe to enjoy live music together. Skype existed, but no tool allowed people to truly feel together remotely. What if we tried a French alternative? A few entrepreneurs believed in the vision. The technology was tested live: Arnaud Montebourg, Julian Assange, and Bill Clinton were "projected" onto Glowbl tables. Proof that it worked. However, fundraising for a French tech startup in the early 2010s remained a perilous feat. Exhausted, the founder stepped down.

2015-2020

Focus on distance learning

To keep Glowbl moving forward, the company initiated a technological pivot. Historical shareholders backed several years of R&D to completely rethink the platform and support its redevelopment on new technologies. A primary use case emerged among large enterprises: distance learning. In 2020, COVID changed everything. The pandemic drove unprecedented adoption of Glowbl. What was once one use case among many became an obvious market necessity.

2021-2023

Structuring to face Teams

Sophie, an early shareholder, took the helm. The course was clear: focus on learning and facilitation, where remote usage had accelerated ten years in just a few months. While the market was saturated, the need for a tool designed specifically for pedagogy rather than standard meetings remained strong. Sophie structured the team with the arrival of Côme and later Aude-Marine. Glowbl introduced its first customizable Layouts, the Agenda feature to structure sessions, and single-click broadcast to all sub-groups for seamless, interactive facilitation of large cohorts.

2023 to present

Sovereignty and profitability

Glowbl became a two-time France 2030 winner as part of the CollabNext consortium led by Jamespot, aimed at developing a sovereign collaborative suite as an alternative to Microsoft 365. Usage continues to grow at a rate of +40% per year. A dedicated user community has formed, and word-of-mouth momentum is in full swing. The company is now profitable.
