One of the key goals of a training course is to transfer knowledge and help students learn new skills. To give their course every chance of success and turn a trial into a commitment, the trainer must provide attractive teaching materials and, above all else, focus on human relationships. Change your position as a trainer
The first thing to do to put people back at the heart of training is to adopt a facilitator role in addition to being a source of information and knowledge. A trainer must of course pass on knowledge, but they must also make sure that every student feels stimulated, with the opportunity to express themselves, exchange ideas and cooperate with their peers during their course.

Create group cohesion
Putting people back at the heart of training also means organising periods of interaction and discussion so that participants can get to know each other better and build ties. This can be done through:
- Ice breaker exercises during each face-to-face session or virtual class. This is particularly important at the beginning of a training programme, to create ties between the participants.
- Collaborative exercises (in addition to individual exercises) to enable participants to work together, be proactive and enhance their experience.
All these exercises will help create team spirit and a sense of belonging. This is all the more important when part of the training programme is taught remotely.
Invest in your relationship with your students
As a trainer, you must show that you are available for your students throughout their training programme. You must therefore take the time to answer their questions during face-to-face sessions and at designated times during remote learning phases – particularly in co-modal training, when the students must remain engaged throughout their face-to-face and remote sessions.

Listening is also a crucial factor when putting people back at the heart of training. Trainers must pay particular attention to the comments made by their students, both when they are talking amongst themselves and when they are interacting with the teacher. Comments and criticisms can also help trainers improve their classes.

To do this, they can simply observe body language through their webcam, or use tools that are designed to share feelings and emotions, like smileys, for example.
